Gravity waves

Einstein suspected
there was more to time and space
than vacuums, explosions, silence.

             Called it ‘fabric’,
             as if proved by touch,
             wrinkles made right
             ironed smooth.

But, yesterday scientists prove
that it’s music
after all.

Way out, past a billion trillion suns,
a string the width of a proton is plucked,
             and Hanford’s interferometer chirps.

Lady gravity sways
as the universe sings.
